Gatsby wedding in the Swiss mountains

A touch of Gatsby in Switzerland: A fairytale wedding at Jegenstorf Castle

The 1920s were a time of glitz, glamor and the famous Jay Gatsby. Now, decades later, we've rediscovered the fascination with this glamorous era, and nothing embodies this style better than a Gatsby-inspired wedding. I recently had the privilege of planning and organizing such a wedding at the enchanting Jegenstorf Castle and Gurten in Switzerland.

The majestic backdrop of Jegenstorf Castle, with its romantic architecture and extensive gardens, provided the perfect stage for this very special wedding ceremony. The bride and groom, C & C, were inspired by the aesthetics of the 1920s and created an unforgettable Gatsby wedding.

The Gatsby Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony took place outside on a terrace where guests gathered in period Gatsby attire. The brides dazzled in a stunning beaded wedding dress reminiscent of Roaring Twenties fashion. In keeping with the theme, the brides drove up in a vintage Bentley.

The wedding ceremony itself was designed by Robino – freelance wedding orator. It was characterized by emotions, humor, entertainment and a lot of charm. The backdrop was a round golden wedding arch decorated with white, black and gold flowers - created by MyAwina. Wedding vows were exchanged with the flair and passion of this exciting era, transporting guests to another time.

Coffee and cake in the gardens

After the ceremony, the guests retreated to the castle's magnificent gardens, where a sweet table with cake, cupcakes and macarons from Mmhcakes awaited them. The wedding cake, a work of art in the 1920s style! Pro-Tip: Serving the wedding cake in the afternoon has many advantages: the guests are not full from dinner and can enjoy the cake more, agenda item for the afternoon, the photographers have better light for taking photos, not everyone does it !

The reception on the Gurten

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the reception on the Gurten, a picturesque viewpoint over Bern. Here the guests were greeted by a panoramic view of the Swiss Alps and the city of Bern and with a small aperitif. The evening started with champagne, swing music and a 4-course meal.

Overall, this Gatsby wedding at Jegenstorf Castle and the Gurten was an unforgettable experience that perfectly captured the elegance and flair of the 1920s. It was a journey back in time to Gatsby, where the glamor and sophistication of that era could be felt in every corner. I hope that C&C had a wedding that they and their guests will treasure for a lifetime.
